Like a lit candle can light another candle, only one who has, can give. One who is free can free you, one who is love can kindle the love.

mohabbat tho ek javeda zindagi hain
love doesn't die, the heart does
What is the feeling that is, which the mortals call love. Each of us has a different meaning for love, but we do know that love is further away from even the abstract. There is no meaning for what it is. It goes beyond what the small mind can comprehend, and what the sweet heart can feel. It's the language of the soul, which longs for the feeling unknown, and is fulfilled without knowing. Love is the feeling that is unknown, undefined to the human mind. The deepest part of us, and only it, can see what love is, for in the depths of us, lies the power to know the unknown. The Self is unknown, constantly trying to be explored, and only the unknown can reach for the unknown, touch it, and feel it....

ek mukammal kashmakash hain zindagi.....
said less...
been kinder...
forgiven more...
helped...
dug a little deeper...
reached out, touched, held,
spoken more gently,
at any given time, in my life, to someone?

jaankh le aankhon mein meri, deewangee abaad hain....
kabhi mein aml hoon kabhi beaml hoon, jo tujh mein hoon nahin tho phir bemehl hoon
ki sach ki talaash hain door aakash hain, manzil paas nahin kya tu mere paas hain?
ab kabhi bichde tho khwaboh mein mile, jaise sookhe hue patte kitabon mein mile
ashq bhi muskuraaye, tum jo mile mil gayi hain zindagi
sard the pedon ke saaye, bejaan thi bin tere yeh zindagi
aisa kabhi bhi ho payega tu rubaru lehrayega?

Good timber does not grow with ease. The stronger the wind the stronger the trees.
I wish to see people for who they really are, not for who they're trying to be or trying to impress. I feel a person's true self is revealed when he is at his weakest.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.

When I can look Life in the eyes,
Grown calm and very coldly wise,
Life will have given me the Truth,
And taken in exchange - my youth.
Enjoy your religions, honor them, learn from them, just as you should enjoy, honor, and learn from your parents. But do you walk around telling everyone that your parents are better than theirs?

Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.”

Heaven or hell- Who decides?
With all this going on, and people suffering for no cause- who actually decides whether we go to heaven or hell?
Do we even know if there is a heaven or hell?
What is the justification for tsunami hitting one part of the world, or for that matter airplanes colliding into the 2 twin towers? Who replaces the loss of the lost ones?
People die, the pain doesn't..........
One who is born, has to suffer
Greed, desire, and anger are the seeds of suffering
What the heck? The world is not going to change......... why should I?
Be the change you want to see in the world- there has to be a beginning, to prevent a sorrowful end................

From reality to a dream

I came back from Egypt last evening, but the memory of it still lingers in my thoughts, like fresh mountain dew on 'don't want to let go leaves'
It feels as parts of me have been left behind, some in the pyramids, some in the haunting tombs, few in the local streets of the cities......
Memories, irrespective of time and events, remain untouched and unstained.
With me here, my soul still hangs on to history-
the history of ancient Egypt...

I chose to end it with him letting go, because only with open hands can we receive.
Does any of you know?
I keep wondering as to what I will be doing 5 years down the lane-
have kids?
I don't know.
Do I want to?

15 Park Avenue- sunshine doesn't always get through all windows
-----
For those of you who are not aware of what 15 Park Avenue is, here it is in a nutshell (review from apunkachoice.com)-
It is the address that exists only in the mind of a young schizophrenic girl. It is on this address her imaginary husband and children live.
Aparna Sen’s movie ‘15 Park Avenue’ is a touching film with a sensitive subject. It is a film that will appeal to selected audience, not the masses. The movie is slow paced and the culmination to the story is open-ended.
-----
The film awakens in you, a transcendent part, that probably has been lying dormant for time immemorial. In this world where millions of beings suffer from millions of diseases, inborn or acquired, we live a life full of luxuries, yet there's no dearth to the complaints that we have for various reasons. I am no saint, nor do I deny that I have my own share of cribbings. Am just trying to pen my thoughts here, those which crossed my small mind last night. On this planet, where misery and agony reign, we are lost in our own world, worried about getting a job, tying the knot, reproducing etc. Has the thought ever striked us to adopt a baby, give a life to the less fortunate. We are worried about the life that hasn't entered this world, when we have the opportunity to give life to an under- privileged one.
I am not sure if I am one of those who would practice what they preach. I am trying to be one.
So if you are one of them who loves to see real- life films that touch your heart, do not miss this one- a treat to the heart.
The climax of the movie is still a little bizarre to me, so those of you who could make it out- kindly highlight.

To the parents of a child......
And he said:
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

Lessons on Life
There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away. The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall. When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen.
The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted. The second son said no it was covered with green buds and full of promise. The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen. The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.
The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but only one season in the tree's life. He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up. If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall.
Moral: Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest. Don't judge life by one difficult season. Persevere through the difficult patches and better times are sure to come some time or later.
Keep smiling :-)Thursday, February 02, 2006
Are you husk or the grain?
If you don’t have faith, you’re nothing. During the time of reaping the harvest, the farmerholds a broad sieve and puts all the grains into itand stands on an elevated platform and shakes thesieve. What happens when that is done? If it is mere husk, it just flies away in the air andis lost. If grain is present, then it falls to the ground andstays. So too in our life, we must have faith. Faith issomething which we have inside us.
When many situations surfacein life, are you able to face all of them with peace, with a stable mind and faith? If you do not have faith, if you go into fear, then you will fly awayinto the air, like the husk. You will be nowhere. You will not have anything to hold onto. But if you have faith, you will be able to find aground. When you have faith that every thing be alright, whenyou are in peace, then everything will settle down. God expects only one thing from you, “your unshakeablefaith”. If your faith shakes very quickly, if it keeps shakingtoo often, or if you realise that you do not have anyfaith at all when difficulty strikes, then it is akinto being like the husk. Look into your life; are youmere husk or the grain? How many events take place in life! Many situationsarise. Are you able to maintain your equanimity inthose conditions? Your work is to maintain yourequanimity in this world. Not everything in the worldis sweet. Some things are sweet and some are bitter. If you are grounded with faith like the husk withgrain, then you will progress. The grounded grains aregathered in a sack and replanted elsewhere or used insome manner. Isn’t it?
Take this decision: “Whatever happens I will be there.I will be grounded. God’s protection is there on me. Whateverhappens, I will never go down. I always have God’s hand withme”. This much is enough to pull you up. Keep your mind inpeace in all situations. It is enough if that much is doneby you and the rest will be taken care of. You have to takeat least one step forward, which is to be in peace andequanimity. “Oh! Nothing happened. Nothing of my work happened” –If you are able to laugh in such a situation, then understand that you have protection with you.
The world is filled with love. Everybody has love inside them. You have to see that in your mind. Have you ever seen with this view? Whenever you are ina crowd, have you ever watched the crowd and thoughtin your mind that “all is love”? The whole world is a celebration. Fairs happen hereconstantly. Everyday celebration happens here. Parrot, cuckoo and other birds sing. The procession is movingconstantly. We are the idols who are moving in theprocession. You should be happy in life. All other businessesinvolve ups and downs which is very natural. If there is a body, then it will get cold, cough, fever or something else and itwill go away. But take care to see that happiness isalways established in you. That is known aspurashaartha. Our love, faith and belief should bedeep-rooted, and then everything else moves on itsown.

Do you want to change the world?
By being the change yourself- be the change that you want to see in the world.
The whole world is one family-
we have created barriers, transcend the barriers- and you will find freedom.... freedom within, and freedom from within, is true freedom indeed.
This song is about the whole world being as one family- www.sahiljagtiani.com/support_songs.html
Come, feel the love............
Tanha Dil..............
jaane yeh raahein ab le jaayengi kahaan
mitti ki khusboo aaye, palkon pe aasoon laaye
palkon pe reh jaayega yaadon ka jahaan
manzil nayee hain anjaana hain karwaan, chalna akele hain yahaan
tanha dil tanha safar, doonde tujhe phir kyun nazar
tanha dil...........
dilkash nazaare dekhe, jilmil sitaare dekhe
aankhon mein phir bhi tera chehra hain jawan
kitni barsaatein aayee, kitni sougaatein laayee
kaanon mein goonje phir phi teri hi sada
vaade kiye the apna hoga aashiyan, vaadon ka jaane hoga kya
tanha dil tanha safar, doonde tujhe phir kyun nazar
tanha dil...........
kaisa banaaya Rab ne yeh zindagi ka mela
duniya hain saath saari, phir bhi hain man akela

Tomorrow Never Comes
If I knew it would be the last time that I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly, and pray the Lord your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time that I'd see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss, and call you back for just one more.
If I knew it would be the last time I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would tape each word and action, and play them back throughout my days
If I knew it would be the last time, I would spare an extra minute or two,
To stop and say "I love you," instead of assuming you know I do.
So, just in case tomorrow never comes, and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you, and I hope we never will forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance you get to hold your loved one tight.
So, if you're waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes, you'll surely regret the day
That you didn't take that extra time for a smile, a hug, or a kiss,
And you were too busy to grant someone, what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today, and whisper in their ear,
That you love them very much, and you'll always hold them dear.
Take time to say "I'm sorry," "Please forgive me," "Thank you" or "It's okay".
And if tomorrow never comes, you'll have no regrets about today.
-Norma Cornett Marek 1989
Be sure to tell anyone you consider a friend or a loved one how you feel today. Those you've known for a long time, or maybe haven't talked to in a while, as well as those you may have just met. Let them know how much you care about them. But don\t delay. You never know... you may not see them tomorrow. So, let them know how much they mean to you today.

Nafrat kyun hain?
Tera dil to itna bada hai insaan ka dil tang hai kyon
Kadam kadam par sarhad kyon hai saari zameen jo teri hai
Sooraj ke pehre dharti hai phir kyon itni andheri hai
Is duniya ke daaman par insaan ke lahoo ka rang hai kyon
Goonj rahi kitni cheekhein pyaar ki baatein hum sunein
Toot rahe hain kitne sapne inke tukde koi chune
Dil ke darwaazon par taaley taalon par zank hai kyon
Ishwar allah tere jahan mein nafrat kyon hai jung hai kyon
Tera dil to itna bada hai insaan ka dil tang hai kyon.

Yeh lamha, filhaal jee lene de
Roz naya kuch, likti hain tu
Jho bhi likha hain, dil se jiya hain
Yeh lamha, filhaal jee lene de
Masoom si hasi, bewaja hi sahi, honton pe khil jaathi hain
Anjaan si kushi, behthi hui kabhi, saahil pe mil jaathi hain
Yeh sukun hain tho hain, yeh junoon hain tho hain, khoobsurat hain jee lene de
Yeh lamha, filhaal jee lene de
Yun hi mein rehta hain, aankhon mein behta hain, kacha sa ek khwab hain
Lagta sawaal hain, shaayad jawab hain, dil phir bhi betaab hain
Yeh anjaan sa dar, ajnabee hain magar, khoobsurat hain jee lene de
Yeh lamha, filhaal jee lene de
